Just the like the end of a classic James Bond movie (above and lovingly commandeered from A Girl and a Gun), this is the end of The Dark Punishing Knight Begins.

And also like the end of a classic James Bond movie, we will return in Calgary Smith and the Apartment of Doom.

• So what exactly is the appropriate sound effect for hitting one’s self in the face? WHACK has my vote as it works on so many levels (one such level being…). Coming in second? The much unheralded and criminally overlooked DOOZH. Seriously, not a lot of love for the sound I personally use every time I see a cat fight a monkey.
• And now, ladies and gentlemen, the greatest comic book sound effect of all time. On the opposite side of the spectrum, a GIF of the cheesiest sound effects from the 1960s Batman (admittedly, the YouTube compilation, now sadly removed, was much, much cooler).
• Continuing with the sound effects motif, much like FOX’s When Animals Attack, I give you When Sound Effects Go Awry.
• And now for something completely different. “A MACABRE SHADOW…” That be a little thing I like to call foreshadowing. HAH!
